My Shopping List
Updated as of 3-13-12These are some of the items I’m working on. As I ‘ve mentioned throughout this blog I have very little money that I can use toward clothing, shoes and accessories each month. I really want to focus on buying items that will work with what I already have. This is my list for Spring 2012

I don’t have a website, but I saw a couple of things on your wish list this weekend. Maybe the woman who has the Economy of Style may be able to help you with them? She and I both live in St. Louis, and I saw the small clutch with bamboo handles that was in excellent condition and of good quality at a resale shop here off Gravois Rd. called Sweet Charity for $5. I saw a fur stole in fabulous condition, and sooo soft that was donated to The Scholarshop in Webster Groves off Big Bend Blvd. I hope this helps. You have a great website!
Thanks Erin. I would love to shop resale / thrift. I could save sooo much money. I use to shop thrift stores but one day I purchase a scarf from a local cosignment store and it broke my skin out and I felt like I needed to get rid of it, so now I just stay away from pre-owned items. I just think its bad karma for me…I only buy new items, because I believe I’m developing skin allergies. But thanks so much for your help!! Those items sound so great
What a deal if I could get them!!
I don’t know if you are looking for a “traditional” mink type stole, but I have some cute faux fur ones in my web store. They look even better in person!

Some of the items that you are looking for like the grey pumps, black trench coast, and silver and gold cluch can be found at stores like Burlington Coat Factory,Marshalls, and TJMax, for next to nothing.
I did a search and I’m not sure how much you want to spend on a trench but here’s a few grey trench coats:

I noticed that most of your shoes have a high heel. You’re lucky you can wear them. Do you wear them to work or do you wear flats and change once you get there? My feet are godawful. I can’t wear heels anymore.
Amethyst, I love stilettos, but I do like my low wedge heels shoes and my canvas flats. I just don’t post them as much as I do the heels.
I believe a woman should always take care of her feet. So I wear my sensible flat to work, change when I get in the office and change back into my flats when I leave, so I don’t wear out my really good shoes. I like to protect my heels.
You can find some cute low-heel shoes on solestruck.com and at Target. Payless has some great canvas flats and low-heel shoes from American Eagle.
Target actually has some really cute canvas shoes (I bought them today) from Converse and they are the bomb!! You can find them HERE.
I found faux snakeskin clutches at Ross from under $14. They came in black, white and butter yellow – I bought the white and kicking myself for not getting the butter yellow.
I think I have that one from Ross
I came across a few fur stoles in the Antique Stores. I actually got a full length suede skirt for only $22. I was looking for a cedar chest and came out with a dress and a skirt. Go figure. LOL
Forever 21 has oversize faux snakeskin envelope clutches right now that are really cute and around $18
Thanks, I think I saw those, but I actually found a few in Ross for Less for $14 dollars
have u seen these orange pumps?

Check out Iman’s faux fur stole on hsn.com. I own 2 of her handbags (purchased from eBay for 1/2 the price of 1 bag), and get lots of compliments on them. I first ordered the item from HSN so I could check out the quality & see if the prices were worth it (not), then sent it back (you have 30 days), and starting trolling eBay. I recently saw the faux fur on eBay, and more will probably post after the holidays. Now, if we could just be as tall as Iman.
Hello soo i have been shopping a lot lately and here is the list, Grey Pumps several cute ones at T.J.Maxx, Steel Grey Trench Marshall’s i saw some their and Burlington Coat Factory, Snakeskin Clutch at Rainbow and Walmart (believe it or not, Walmart has some very cute clutches and handbags)
Now i purchased these nude shoes and i want to wear them with a black skirt, but any suggestions on the top?? Please look at my page and tell me what you think
@ zulema2 – thanks alot for that. I have not looked at this list in a while, I’ve all but abandon it except the bras, the yellow and green shoes and fur stole.
I saw the shoes, I like them but without knowing your body type I really couldn’t suggest a style of top (square neck, boat neck, vneck, ruffles, button up, etc.). I know that a lot of ethnic prints are out right now – I think a great print always add an nice extra element to a solid.
I love your blog! I check it all the time! I am so inspired to go dig at budget friendly stores, all your clothes are so amazing!
@ ashlee – thanks so much, I appreciate the compliment. My stuff is okay, wish I could afford better brands; I just try to make what I can afford look decent.
I am looking for apple red pumps/heels not to big for a wedding to match my dress, its apple red so it must be the same kind of red…….looking for a thick heel otherwise I wouldn’t e able to walk
Hey again, I’m looking at your shopping list and one thing STUCK out to me.
It was the item on your list: Yellow Pumps.
I don’t know what type you are looking for, but I have a site I frequent that is obnoxiously inexpensive. And They have a lot of your sizes. Here are some yellow pumps I just thought were cute and maybe the site could help (but I do know you said you don’t like to buy cheaply made shoes too, I understand) But I will still post the site so you can look.
I really like your writing style, its not generic and extremely long and tedious like a lot of blog posts I read, you get to the point and I really enjoy reading your fashion articles!
I love your blog and discovered the site only recently after being fed up with my meager wadrobe. I would love to increase my style quotient and wadrobe but my funds are limited. What would you suggest as basics to start off with ? .
@ sharon –
It kind of hard to tell you want to start off with because I don’t know your personal style or taste. However, I think the pieces below are a start in the right direction in rebuilding your wardrobe:
> 10 basic tees in different colors
> 10 pairs of jeans (3 trendy, 1 cropped, 2 dark dressy denim)
> 5 pencils skirts and 5 flirty A-Line skirts
> 10 blazers (1 safari blazer)
> 3 LBD (little black dress)
> 5 casual dresses
> 5 semi-casual dresses
> 2 formal dresses
> 2 Trench coats (one traditional khaki)
> 5 coat of different length (depending on how tall you are)
I won’t list any accessories but of course, scarfs, belts, hats, shoes
etc can add an extra something to all of the pieces above and can help
to create many differents looks. I would strongly suggest to also subscribe
to Lucky magazine because they do a feature 2 or 3 times a year where they
show like how you can take 20 pieces and create different outfits for an entire month.
Hope that helps!
Hey – new reader here, and I noticed the yellow pumps on your list. I just recently went on a mission to find (inexpensive, but good quality) yellow pumps and found a pair on ebay for $5.50! Here is a picture of them http://fashionbargainshopper.blogspot.com/2010/06/bargain-fashion-report-begging-for.html These particular pair were pre-worn, but there are lots of new ones that are very economically priced. Good luck!
Scarves, you say? Let me knock at least one off of your list. I’ll email what I have left in stock to see which you’d like as a gift.
However, the entire selection of 42 x 42 scarves are located here:
