A Shabby Apple Dress Giveaway

In My Ear:
Ray Charles and Mary Ann Fisher – What Kind of Man are You

I was sent this dress by Shabby Apple to show you how gorgeous their dresses are.  I wore this dress to Service today and I received SO many compliments.  I did the whole 1940′s vintage look, gloves and all.  I can’t tell you how many ladies ask me where I ordered my dress.  I selected this number because it’s a stretch sateen which is easy to care for.

I love the dress, but if you are short-waisted you will have to make some alternations as the dress is cut for a long waist.  I so wish they had a short and long torso version (would have made my life so much easier).  I also selected an easy to care for dress (Mariposa Grove) as the giveaway and one I think will compliment many body types.

Work Outfit II – Edgy Metallics

Yes, I did wear a sequin skirt to work!.  I’ve been wanting to wear this skirt for some time now.  I saw this outfit on Samantha in the first SATC movie, I knew I had to dupe the look.  I just had to wait a while to get all the pieces.  I’d been feeling so down and out and really dealing with a lot in my personal life, but this outfit really lift my spirit’s today.  I’m trying to regroup and get focused again!

Did not mean to get off topic- I finally, found all the pieces at NY&Co but at different times.  I got the sequin skirt on sale last summer and the silver cardigan I found about a month ago.  I was all glittered up at the office, but all the ladies loved it!  It’s good to push the  boundaries every now and then and see what you can get away with, surprisingly enough it worked!

Holiday Party and a Faux Fur Stole

These are some pics I took a few weeks ago and I just wanted to upload them.  I have not been up to taking any  recent pictures since I’ve been under a bit of stress lately in my personal life.  I’m slowly climbing my way out and I have my family and friend to encourage me to keep moving!I was very happy to find this faux stole at forever21 because I really, really wanted one and did not want the upkeep of taking on a vintage stole made of real animal fur.  There is much you have to do to maintain and retain the look of real fur and it can be costly.

I found the right shade, style and price ($26) at forever21, and I wasn’t even really look, who knew.

 Faux Fur Stole – F21
 Jacket – NY & Company
Black Jeans – Dream Out Loud

Blue Leather Bag – OR by Oryany

I wore this outfit to a Christmas party where I ended up tripping, spraining my ankle and ripping my jeans.   So I looked cute for about 10 minutes and that was it; foot was swollen but I kept partying anyway!

Vogue Italia QVC Spoof

Vogue Italia created a video spoof of QVC and designer labels into one hilarious and spot-on editorial. Check out the spoof video here.

“All prices, telephone numbers, deadlines, that is to say all the writings superimposed onto the images are invented and have no reference to reality,” the magazine states on their website. “It is only a game.”

Well, they got me all excited because I actually thought they had the goods on QVC and I was ready to order! LOL

Hyperthyroid – Second Update

I wanted to give you guys a update on my Hyperthyroid situation. I did finally get a appointment to see an Endocrinologist and I can say right out the gate, I did not like this person! I spend all of 30 minutes in there and then I was ready to go. She was very cold and basically just spit out textbook solutions that I already knew about: medication, iodine treatment or surgery. I just chucked dem dueces  and told her to just test my thyroid levels again because none of the choices she mentioned were an option for me.

I asked about ArmourThyroid but she stated that was prescribed for people with hypothyroidism. Not sure I believe her, but in any case, I was not going any further with this person. I felt it was better for me to do some more research to find a better Endocrinologist in my area and/or stick with my initial plan to go the homeopathic route. The latter is a stronger fit for me. I did my due diligent by going to the Endo office, when in my mind I knew there were much better options (less drastic than medication, radiation or surgery) through a more comprehensive evaluation of my thyroid activity with treatments that would benefit my entire system (body) overall.
I have an appintment with the homeopathic wellness center in January.  However, I finally got the results of my third test.  I have uploaded the test results  hereHow about my test results came back NORMAL!   I had been supplementing with minerals (copper, silver, magnimum, sulfur, zinc and iron). Along with including seaweed, kale and sushi into my diet.  Now my results are normal. Wow! What if I had started taking medication as soon as I was diagnosed. I felt I was always borderline hyper and the imbalance was probably due to a shift in my hormone production after going into menopause. Now it’s back in the ‘normal range’ whatever that means. Had I started taking the medication, I would’ve ended up being hypo instead of hyper. I always think synthetic medications should be absolutely the last resort!

I’m still keeping my appointment with the Homeopathic Center and will be getting my thyroid checked again more extensively through them in January. I’ll follow any recommendations they give me.  So my plans are to improve my thyroid function through diet, supplements, herbs and chinese medicine and not through Western methods. Oh and by the way, am gaining weight again!

Work Outfit No. 1

I couldn’t find my camera for a minute. I had a lot a guest over the past few weeks and I put my camera up in a place I normally don’t store it and then for the life of me, I couldn’t remember where it was. I finally found it and so I thought I’d go ahead and do an outfit post since I haven’t uploaded anything in a while.

I really enjoying wearing this Marco Santi shoes I got from MJRSales.com. They’re real leather/suede and I got them for $20, what a steal! MJRSales sells Victoria Secret merchandise at reduced prices and they only charge $2.00 for shipping. I mean you just can’t beat that shipping price. I check their site on the regular for reduced shoe stock and I’ve been really happy with what I gotten from them so far.

Back to Day One – Self Hosting My Blog

I’ve moved Budget Chic to my own self-hosted WordPress Blog.  I’ve been meaning to do this for about a year, but was always too busy.  I finally buckled down and move everything and got all the programming going.  There’s still a little bit more to do, (cleaning up links, importing a few more pages, etc.) but I’ll have to get to that later.

I’ve been tired of the restrictions of not being able to use any scripts at wordpress.com and not being able to get the stats I want.  I always thought blogspot had better features.  Wordpress.com has implemented some new extras but there were still a few that they didn’t have and didn’t look like they wanted to get.  Plus it was just time anyway!

If anyone is still linking to the old wordpress URL fdiary.wordpress.com; if you guys could update, that would be awesome.

Everybody enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday next week, I hope everybody is able to spend quality time with family and friends!

This year has just jump up and left in thin air, it went sooo fast!

Sending warm regards to you and your!
