Back in the Trenches

I decided to give my two Dollhouse trench coats away to my niece, since she kept asking me to borrow them all the time.  I was like ‘you know what, why don’t you just keep them.’ that way I got her out of my hair.  I love my nieces but they can be real challenging to the few good nerves I got left.   I got this short trench jacket on sale for $27 on jcp.com.  I like all the added details like the puff sleeve and the matching buckle around the sleeves and it was just the right shade of khaki.

I love trench coats, jackets and trench style dresses.  I want to add a green and salmon colored trench to my arsenal.   People Style Watch highlighted this Spring’s trend.   I like the green trench by Lauren Conrad for Kohls.  I’ll have to keep my eye on that one for a price reduction.

B/W Striped Shirt – Sears
Black Jeans – Dream Out Loud
Leather Boots – Nine West
Tote Bag – Mulberry for Target

I also got a great steal on four French Connection leather belts at Rugged Warehouse.  I tell ya that is such a great spot for unpredictable bargains, you never know what you’re going to stumble on.  Each belt originally retailed for $88 but they sold them for $6, now you know I couldn’t walk away from that.  Nordstrom Rack is also opening up this weekend and let me tell you, am too excited! Of course me and a co-worker will be there when the doors open!

The A-Line Skirt – Great Work Solution

Black Jacket – Mossimo
Vest -Attention
Green Ponte Knit A-Line Skirt – Adrienne Vittadini
Black Pumps – Guess
Purple Tote – Elliott Lucca
I’ve been thinking about adding more A-Line skirts to my closet. As you all know I have wayyy too many pencil skirts.  Now, don’t get me wrong I love my pencil skirts and I think the cut is perfect for my body type.  However, I’m getting kind of bored with them and I want to concentrate on purchasing more A-Line and trumpet style skirts for the summer.

Last weekend I found 3 great ponte knit skirts (grey, green & purple) at K&G Fashion Warehouse and they still had size 4 on the rack, freaking unbelievable because the small sizes are always the first to go when stuff gets marked down. They were all 50% off so it was $10 each. I love ponte knit so I snatched them up without even going to the fitting room.  They’re perfect for work and of course you can always dress them down with sleeveless tops and sandals.

Stumbled on a Gem

I stumbled on a gem at Burlington Coat Factory.  I was actually looking at a few trench coats and low and behold was this beautiful faux fur jacket with my name on it.  The quality of this jacket is superb and to me its the most realistic and luxe faux furs I have ever seen.  It was originally $50 and they marked it down to $20. No way I was going to leave this in the store.  I love BCF, its like a box of chocolates, you never know what ya gonna get or should I say find. LOL.

I was so excited about scoring this faux, black mink jacket yesterday, I had to wear it today, regardless of where I was going.  Which ended up being Tarjay after I saw the Sunday’s sales paper.  Since I’m short waisted I was able to belt this jacket, on a long-waisted person, this would just end up being a short bolero.

Faux Blk Mink Jacket – BCF
Jeans – Dream Out Loud
Zebra Clutch – DIY – by me
Satin/Patent Pumps – Nine West
Yellow Top – Jr. Store

I also found the black jeans at Kmart on the clearance rack for a whopping $4 bucks!  They fit great and have a little stretch to them.  They have that 60s beatnik, Audrey Hepburn feel, I definitely plan on working an outfit around these with some ballet flats and a black and white stripe top and a short trench jacket.  I’ll have to work that one up real soon.  Well ladies enjoy your evening.

Women’s Shapewear

The new shape of shapewear

Remember the moment of Renee Zellweger’s unravelling in Bridget Jone’s Diary when Hugh Grant discovers her ‘big pants’ and you might be put off wearing shapewear for life. However as true Bridget fans know, in a future encounter Grant actually asks after the mighty knickers affectionately. The message to be garnered from this important lesson from the silver screen is that there’s no shame in shapewear!

In fact – with 50s styling kicking off in a big way last year thanks to the Mad Men inspired fashion trend, pull-in pants and boosting bras are more in fashion than ever and the quality has improved too. Women’s Shapewear: like women themselves comes in various shapes and sizes. You can get lingerie to boost your bust and flatten your tum, shape pants which push in your muffin tops and push up your bum – all to help you to be more confident in whatever you wear.

Shapewear isn’t just about making you appear slimmer either. When wearing an outfit made out of certain fabrics it can sometimes be very difficult to achieve a smooth line under certain fabrics – even when you go underwear free. However, with the aid of shapewear – not only can you banish the unsightly lines you might find other underwear produces, but you can also expel any lumps and bumps you may be worried about and get the confidence boost of support into the bargain.

One of the big trends for this spring/summer is 70s styling. So if the thought of fitting into some flat top high waisted flares has your tummy trembling, think about purchasing some flattening high waisted knickers to help you pull off the look.

And if after all of this you are still nervous about shopping for shapewear, head to a specialist with a wide range like Simply Yours to find something to suit you. And remember – no one needs to know you are wearing shapewear if you don’t want them to – just make sure you remove it before you hit the sack!
