I'm a fortysomething year old hard working mom (now empty nester) that loves fashion, but my purse strings ain't so flexible! My 22 year old son is college graduate and living his own life, so I got some time on my hands *wink* Now that you got the 5 second rundown; pull up a chair, get that Latte and browse around.

I purchased these jeans last year from Sears in their Junior Dept. As soon as I saw them, I thought they were so unique, I just had to have them. Their a little big because I was a couple of pounds heavily last years, but I’m still rocking them anyway, I adore the cool handwritten graffiti and drawing with the destroyed distressed look. So cute! I attended two graduation parties yesterday so I decided to go a little casual.
I hope everybody is enjoying their weekend, I’m sure folks are going to a ton of graduations and wedding events, it’s that season again! Have a good week ladies!
|Discovered this dress at Value Village two weeks ago peeking out between two polka dresses (I bought those as well) yeah I was being quite naughty that day, when I told myself I was only walking out with one item, but this one was a winner. I love the ruching on the sleeves and the a-line bottom. I immediately though 70′s. Simple and classic.
I picked up this amazing piece for $4.50. I thought man, who would give away such an awesome piece, what were they thinking? I paired this dress with a leather multi-band belt I bought from JCP and these great Steven Madden gladiator sandals I bought about two years ago.
I worn this dress to work on Friday and I felt so seventies diva all day.
I hope everybody enjoy their weekend and ready for a positive and productive week. Have a good one ladies!
|I’ve been doing a little thrifting lately. I’ve stopped for right now because I know if I start up with the thrifting again, the room that I’ve converted to a dressing room would be out of control. So I’m trying to exercise some restrain and pull back from going into one of my favorite thrift stores - Value Village. I actually got the blazer I’m wearing in this pic from there for $5. I think this is a great all-around blazer you can dress up or down. I love the cut and the shape, it works perfectly for my short-waist line. I really lucked up on a great piece. I worn this to work today and I got a ton of compliments.
I heard that my favorite store JCPenney’s may be on its way out next year, I hope they can turn this around 3rd/4th quarter because I really like that store and it would be a shame for a retailer that has been around for 4 or 5 decades to just disappear.
I hope everybody has a great Memorial weekend, on my way to Charleston!
|It felt like an act of congress waiting for H&M to open in my city! I don’t understand their U.S. expansion strategy, it’s a bit illogical because they will spend their resources opening up in small town and city before launching in major markets. Go figure, but in any event they’re finally going to open a 17,000 sq ft store in a mall very close to my house, so excited!!
The store is due to open this Fall. Ikea has been in my City for about 2 years now, so I was just wondering how long it was going to take H&M to follow suit. I don’t know what’s going on with their on-line store which was suppose to go live like a year ago, but at least now I can get to the brick and mortar. I will be there the first day they open the doors!
|I’m doing a throwback look with this 80′s color block blazer I found at a Village Value thrift store. Loveee this! Reminds me of this Bobby Brown Video. I scored this blazer for $4.50, ain’t beat that price! I really don’t do a lot of thrift shopping because things can easily get out of control and your closet will be bursting at the seams. So I might wonder into a thrift store once a year because I know how addicting thrifting can become and the next thing you know you are approaching hoarder status and a yard sale/donation will be in order.
I’m also pretty excited about the fact that I can get back into my bleached rose embroidered hippy jeans. I love these jeans but I had to put them in the back of my closet because I could only get them half way up my thigh. I think I got these jeans at a junior store when my weight was very low due to stress.
I really need to give them away (as much as I love them) because these jeans will always find their way to the back of my closet, I stay one cookie away from fitting into these suckers!
I hope everybody enjoy their week, Memorial day is right around the corner, I’ll be in Charleston, SC that weekend, I’ll try to post two more looks before I leave town! Have a good one ladies!
|Happy Mother’s Day, to all the hardworking moms out here.
I had a great day with my son, we went to the dinner and movies and my baby brought me a fruit basket from edible arrangements, my kid really went all out this year. He had the biggest smile on his face when he gave me that fruit basket and of course I let him know how happy I was with my wonderful gift. It was a amazing day. We had the best time at the movies. I love Sci-Fi movies so we saw Oblivion with Tom Cruise; there was like only 5 people in the whole theatre including us so we were able to talk and try to determine the plot, without worrying about disturbing other people around us. Lots of great Sci-Fi movies coming out this summer by the way (Startek 2, After Earth, Man of Steel).
We were chilling and tossing that popcorn in the air, lol. It was a simple Mother’s Day but it was great to spend quality time and just chill with my son, especially since he has adult responsibilities, we don’t get to do that as much. I hope all the other moms out there as a great a day as I had.
| I hope that everybody enjoyed their special days with family and friends.
|Hello Ladies, I know it’s been a while since I did an outfit post. I hope to get back into my routine this month. I have been busy with some other issues, one of them is changing my diet and concentrating on health and weight loss. I really did not want to take any pictures at my previous weight because I felt and looked like a stuff sausage. 2012 was not a good year for me in terms of my weight, but 2013 is looking much, much better.
I’ve lost about 12 pounds with another 4 pounds to go to get to my goal. I’m feeling pretty good and am able to get back into just about all of my clothes.
I changed my diet and now am on an anti-fungal, anti-yeast regime. I’m having a lot of success with that approach in terms of the weight loss and I feel better as well. I also decided to get off of the bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (HRT). I felt like hey, I’m just going to let my body do what it wants to do naturally and not try to mimic my body’s hormone production. I also got sick of applying those creams, it was getting on my nerves, one more thing (among many) I had to try and keep up with. I decided it was better to try and alter my diet with a yeast, fungal and gluten free diet of all organic foods.
Oh, I also cut my hair because I was tired of the long tresses and wanted to be able to wash and manage my hair in less time. I like it and plan on keeping it at this length, since it so much easier to deal with.
I hope everybody has a great week!

I have seriously thought about designing my own T-shirt. I wanted something unique to wear to a causal event. Something funky and fun to throw on with a pair of jeans that was a one-of-kind design. I had a few drawings in a graphic program that I created into a high resolution web graphic that I wanted to create a t-shirt with. I felt the most budget friendly way to this was to create a t-shirt from a custom design website.
Ordering and creating a custom shirt on-line has become very easy with the new user-friendly interface, it also easier to upload images and select sizing and lettering size and color. Many custom shirt website offer a wide selection of t-shirts, polo shirts and regular dress shirts for men and women. What’s ever better for the budget conscious person is you no longer have to order a large quantities of shirt to get a good price. You can custom design a shirt for a little as $25.00 with delivery charges included. One of better custom shirts website that offer affordable pricing: Check out custom shirts at Shirtinator.
